As of September 2025 we have had a name change.

For the last twenty years we have operated under the name Hope Christian Centre, which was the name of the building that we occupy. We chose this name for the building as it felt important to emphasise that biblically the “church” is the gathered people of God, rather than the place where they meet.  

Over time however, we have recognised that this distinction is lost on the general public. In common usage the word 'church' most often refers to the building and only secondarily to the people. In the majority of dictionaries, the building is the first definition given. 

Even so, 'church' stands for more than the building in the public mind. It connotes the idea of refuge, of peace and of a welcoming, gathered community of believers. We came to the view that if someone is looking for spiritual or practical help, which is our aim, that 'church' is an attractive term and the one most likely to be searched for.

Accordingly, we have rebranded our building signage and our web presence to bring these ideas together and reflect who we are – Hope Christian Church.
